What the heck is the MicroBiome and how is it connected to your poop?
The “MicroBiome” is IN the lower gut (small intestines, large intestine, and colon) and is often called the 2nd brain because it communicates with the body and controls many vital functions much like the brain. It is comprised of little hairs called VILLI and FRIENDLY BACTERIA that line the intestinal walls.
What does the MicroBiome do?
The MicroBiome performs three very important functions:
- Nutrient assimilation
- Toxin elimination
- Immune activation
What does any of this have to do with poop and your health? EVERYTHING!
When the MicroBiome is compromised and not healthy, you can have lots of different symptoms and even autoimmune disease. As for your poop, you can have:
- Chronic constipation
- Constant floaters instead of sinkers because you are not absorbing nutrients properly
- IBS / Cramping / Pain when pooping
- Not pooping often enough due to a sluggish digestive system
